Join us for our 2025 Study Weekend

Hillscourt Conference Centre, Rose Hill, Rednal, Birmingham B45 8RS

Friday 14th February until Sunday lunch 16th February 2025

This venue, just on the outskirts of Birmingham, has proved to offer first-class accommodation as well as being a central venue easily accessible for most members.

This weekend is designed to encourage members, especially new ones, to meet informally and discuss history with like-minded, friendly people. This can be either over coffee or by submitting a paper relating to the given theme. Submitting a paper can be a daunting task, so this is the ideal venue for you to have a go as you will be talking about your chosen subject to a sympathetic audience. Time slots can vary from fifteen minutes to an hour. Not everyone wants to present a paper, many attend just to listen and engage in the discussion. People invariably comment on what a pleasant and rewarding weekend it is.

This year’s theme is ‘Gender and Sexuality’ but it can be interpreted very broadly and is not intended to exclude other topics, so if there is another subject you are burning to give a presentation on then please do not be deterred from suggesting it. As part of the weekend, we are intending a visit to a local attraction, possibly with some relevance to the theme, but this is yet to be confirmed.

The cost for the weekend which will be confirmed nearer the time, includes bed, breakfast, lunch and evening meal. There is no single supplement and all rooms are en suite with WiFi access, tea and coffee facilities and TV. Day rate attendance for either the Saturday or Sunday, to include lunch, will be available. If you also wish to take dinner as a day attendee this will be an additional cost. Double rooms are available; prices on request.
